'The Society was established in 1854 "for the investigation of subjects connected with the history and antiquities of the County of Surrey". Despite subsequent changes in administrative boundaries, the Society's objectives remain substantially the same, and the present area of interest includes the historic county up to the Thames ... Symposia, lecture courses and visits are organised and well-supported.'

'British beekeeping is unusual in that it is mostly undertaken by enthusiastic amateurs. The main organisation supporting this is the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA). The BBKA is made up of area associations. Surrey Beekeepers Association (SBKA) is one of the largest area associations. It was founded in 1879 ... and has over 1000 members. Beekeeping is organised at a local level and area associations are broken down into smaller divisions. Within SBKA, we have eight local divisions covering the whole of Surrey. Most activities are organised by the local divisions.'

'Aims to raise awareness of and to protect Surrey's rich heritage of outstanding historic parks, gardens and designed landscapes ... Our Events Committee organises an exciting programme of lectures, garden visits and study days throughout the year. These events provide an opportunity for members to learn more about the beauty, character and historical significance of the gardens and landscapes in Surrey and surrounding counties. The winter lectures are informative and entertaining discussions about various aspects of garden history, design and horticulture. These lectures are given by enthusiastic speakers well known in their respective fields.'

'Surrey History Centre in Woking collects and preserves the records of Surrey's past and present, documenting the story of the county and its people from the 12th century to the 21st century. Visiting the centre to use our collections is free, staff are always happy to offer advice, and we have a busy programme of exhibitions, talks and events.'
