'The Department of Archaeology at York is among the world’s most highly regarded departments for the subject of archaeology ... Our outlook is both local and global: we exist for the city of York, animating the city, giving something back to it, but we work internationally to deliver the same approach to our global audiences. We are developing new methods of exploring and visualising ancient landscapes, excavating sites, analysing ancient artefacts, human and animal bones, pioneering the biomolecular study of all manner of organic and inorganic compounds, and conserving our shared heritage in order to tell diverse stories and build a sustainable future.'
'Our excellence in teaching and research, plus our strong industrial links, make us one of the UK's leading Computer Science departments ... We run a series of public lectures, to give the public a chance to find out more about Computer Science in general, as well as the work taking place at York. The lectures include speakers from both inside and outside the Department, and typically take place twice a year.'

'The Festival began in 2007 under the auspices of York City Council. After the cuts which followed the crash of 2008, it was adopted by a voluntary group and has grown steadily to become one of the foremost literature festivals in the North of England ... The Festival prides itself on having a diverse range of events including talks, lectures, panels, debates, performances, storytelling pieces and workshops. It features both fiction (literary, contemporary and genre-based), non-fiction and poetry while focusing on a number of themes including history, current affairs and a small programme for children.' Normally held Late March.
