The Society 'operates an active and varied programme. We provide regular talks and day-schools on a wide variety of topics and covering every period of history, from Anglo Saxon and Roman times to Victorian and Twentieth Century developments'.

'The home of Beekeeping in the old County of Cleveland ... Spring, Autumn, and Winter meetings (January to April, and then September to December) are held at 7.15 pm on the 3rd Monday of the month. There will normally be an improvers teaching session starting at 6.30pm before the main meeting.'

'We believe that the industrial history of the north east and Yorkshire is important and we work for its preservation. Our members make records of industrial sites and equipment, carry out historical research and work to help the preservation of business records and physical relics themselves. The Society organises a programme of lectures and site visits. It publishes two or three newsletters a year, containing short contributions and current news.'

'Our aim is to investigate and record the local history of the three villages and surrounding area and to encourage interest and involvement in these matters within the villages ... The Group was formed in 2007 and meets approximately once a month at various venues in the area as well as on site visits to places of interest. Membership is open to anyone interested in local history. Members are encouraged to become involved in research whether on an individual basis or as a member of a group, although this is not obligatory and many of our members are happy simply to attend the organised events.'
