'The Society was formed in January 1995 to promote interest in the local history of Buntingford and the surrounding area and, in particular, the old railway called the Buntingford Branch – known affectionately as "The Bunt" to those who worked on the line.'

'The United Kingdom currently boasts the largest national aerospace industry in Europe and the second largest in the World. The Royal Aeronautical Society has a large number of branches serving all the major hubs of aerospace activity throughout the UK, represented by a diverse range of members from technical, military, and enthusiast backgrounds.'

Established 2003: 'Since 2003 the Society has grown steadily and we now have 40 regular members. Individual interests are varied, with members researching families from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Others have areas of special interest e.g. military matters, resulting in a wealth of experience that can be called on ... A varied programme is organised, to include presentations from professional speakers as well as Society members ... We welcome visitors to our meetings and those interested in joining the Society'.
