A-Z LECTURES and CATEGORIES

Local Society: Nelson

'A place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to have a conversation about the latest ideas in science and technology. Meetings have taken place in cafes, bars, restaurants, theatres, libraries and even out of doors, but always outside a traditional academic context ... Audiences are people who are interested in science. Anyone can participate; speakers are there to be questioned and talk about their work at all levels.'

'Through its meetings and its advice and information service, IFN, with its member bodies, helps make better known and understood the teachings, traditions and practices of the different faith communities in the UK and the pattern of their inter faith work and builds good relations between people of different faiths in the UK.'

In the UK, meetings are held in Lancashire, where there are 13 branches including the Heraldry group and Irish Ancestry group, and in London ... At Branch Meetings you will find family history and heraldry experts who are knowledgeable over a wide area of the UK - north of Liverpool and Manchester, right up to the Cumbrian and Yorkshire Borders ... Each Branch organises its own programme of events and activities ... Non-members are welcome at any of the Branch meetings.'

'We are a friendly, lively, accessible club just off the M65 in the borough of Pendle in East Lancashire in the North West of England. Many of our members achieve a high standard of photography, which inspires other members to improve their skills ... We have regular presentations from visiting speakers, club competitions, which are assessed by an external judge, an annual exhibition and we continually strive to develop members' interests and skills in photography.'
