Local Society: Farnham

'The aim of the Society is to promote interest in geology and its allied sciences for people of all levels of geological knowledge, ranging from the interested amateur up to professional geologist. This is achieved by holding regular monthly meetings in Farnham at which invited speakers cover all aspects of the geological spectrum, ranging from palaeontology through to structural geology, volcanism, earthquakes and environmental effects.'

'Human beings are social animals, and we often feel the need to get together to find support, learn new things, meet new people, and work together for a common cause. Very often we just want to get together to relax and have fun with like-minded people. There are dozens of local humanist groups affiliated to Humanists UK across the country, as well as Humanists UK events and activities taking place that individuals can get involved with in their local communities.'

'British beekeeping is unusual in that it is mostly undertaken by enthusiastic amateurs. The main organisation supporting this is the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA). The BBKA is made up of area associations. Surrey Beekeepers Association (SBKA) is one of the largest area associations. It was founded in 1879 ... and has over 1000 members. Beekeeping is organised at a local level and area associations are broken down into smaller divisions. Within SBKA, we have eight local divisions covering the whole of Surrey. Most activities are organised by the local divisions.'
