'This section covers a wide range of subjects throughout the year. Generally at least one field trip and one lecture per month and an occasional field trip is organised by the Chairman of Section ... We normally make one popular lecture each quarter open to the public totally free of charge. In this way we hope to attract new members. Members are encouraged to speak on a voluntary basis about subjects in which they are interested. In this way we keep our subscriptions as low as possible. However, we do pay for speakers who cover specific subjects in their profession. Thus a donation from non-members is appreciated.'
'The Astronomical Section provides a programme of lectures and occasionally a visit to an observatory or other site ... Lecturers are from outside, members of the Society or members of other astronomical societies.'
'During the winter months, we enjoy a varied programme of illustrated lectures, dealing with botany locally and abroad ... Both the beginner and the experienced botanist will find an annual programme with much interest, coupled with great opportunities for improving his or her botanical skills.'
'Lectures are given in the winter and spring by speakers who have a detailed knowledge or wide field experience of a particular group or groups of insects or other invertebrates.'
'Regular specialist lectures are given by speakers who are acknowledged authorities in their fields.'
'Lectures occur approximately 10 times a year ... There is no admission charge, but donations are warmly welcomed. Tea is served during or after Meetings in the Museum Room.'
Winter lecture programme, about once per month.
'Our main activities are our monthly meetings, which include lectures by nationally and internationally recognised experts, two highly regarded public Shows a year, and - thanks to the willingly shared expertise of several skillful and experienced growers amongst our members - very successful in-house plant clinics and "brains trusts".'
'Gain a unique insight into the knowledge and research that BU is renowned for, and see how we are helping to change the world for the better ... Our free lecture series is open to everyone.'
Bimonthly meetings, Saturday afternoons.
'Every first Tuesday of the month 7.30pm - 9pm.'
'We are a friendly group of several dozen members who meet in Ringwood on the second Friday of the month ... to ... enjoy an illustrated talk on a French theme ... We love the French way of life, but our meetings are in English.'
'With our great line-up of talks, debates and discussions we offer a banquet for the curious mind, and aim, as always, to champion knowledge and understanding over superstition and myth.' Meet once or twice a month at various times.
'Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month ... The meetings begin at 7.30 pm.'
Venue for Monday evening lectures; joint meetings with the Bournemouth Natural Science Society on Saturday afternoons (venue nearby).
'In winter the members of the Bournemouth and Poole Association meet twice monthly on Thursdays. Each month from October to March, there is an evening meeting, and an afternoon meeting for those members who do not wish to travel at night. All meetings are ... usually every second Thursday in the evening at 7.30 pm, and every fourth Thursday in the afternoon at 2.15 pm. These meetings include talks on a variety of subjects and enable members to socialize with like-minded people. The talks are often related to the local National Trust properties we support, or perhaps to visits planned for the next summer season.'
Monthly meetings, Tuesday evenings, 7.30 pm.
'Discover more about the history of Bournemouth and the Russell-Cotes through our talks and tours. Many are related to special exhibitions.'
'Meets on the second Tuesday of each month, 19.30 ... All with a friendly group of like minded people ranging from beginners to experts. Come along as a guest, just turn up. Join if you like it.'
‘All meetings are currently held ... at 8pm on the first Tuesday in each month. The Society does not currently meet in January, August or September ... From our foundation we have endeavoured to promote the study of numismatics in its widest sense - not only coins from classical times to those of the present century, but also commemorative and campaign medals, trade tokens and paper money.’
