'Originally established in 1962, it was hosted by Queen’s University until 2015, after which a new independent organisation (a company limited by guarantee and registered as a charity) was formed with the support of all stakeholders to deliver a new artistic vision for the event. The event covers theatre, dance, classical and roots music, visual, film and digital arts and literature accompanied by outreach and education events. It takes place every October in venues and locations across Belfast.'

'The Belfast Natural History & Philosophical Society (commonly known as The Belfast Society) was founded in 1821 to promote knowledge in the arts and sciences and today provides a lecture programme.'

'The Belfast Naturalists’ Field Club was formed in 1863 and is an eclectic mix of amateurs and professionals who are interested and enthusiastic about the natural sciences and the built environment ... We welcome and encourage anyone who has an interest in the natural world to become a member ... We run a series of evening Winter Lectures usually on the 2nd Tuesday of the month ... We occasionally run introductory courses and workshops on such topics as archaeology, plant identification, botany, fossils, rocks, and minerals, etc..'

'The Belfast Titanic Society, originally called the Ulster Titanic Society, was formed at a meeting in the Linenhall Library in Belfast in May 1992. Among those present at this first meeting were several Harland and Wolff men and those whose relatives had worked on Titanic ... We are unique in that we are the only Titanic Society in the world that holds regular meetings ... There is a programme of meetings from September each year through to May/June for our members and invited guests. The programme consists of Titanic related material and is provided using the expert knowledge and research of our membership as well as by invited, external guest speakers.'

Founded 1889: 'The City of Belfast Photographic Society is the oldest Photographic Society / Camera Club in Belfast and also Northern Ireland and the second oldest camera club in Ireland ... We welcome anyone with an interest in photography, regardless of their level of skill, to come along for a few evenings, with no obligation of joining, to sample our activities.'
