'It is known that a literary society was formed in Alyth in 1875 and that it replaced a previous society which had ceased to function ... The meetings which are held throughout the winter months are open to all and new members are always welcome ... There has always been a wide range of topics at the meetings with a more literary content in earlier times but the format of the syllabus has remained remarkably similar over the years with talks on popular subjects such as history and travel.'

'BOOKMARK, established in 2012, has developed a reputation for being a friendly, well organised Book Festival which offers a wide range of events to suit all interests. BOOKMARK organises not only a three-day Festival in October, but also holds local "Meet the Author" events for adults and local schools. At all our meetings, for adults and children, readers meet, listen to and question writers ... Becoming a member of BOOKMARK supports the organisation in its aims to promote and encourage the study, appreciation and knowledge of literature in Blairgowrie, Rattray and The Glens.'

'For ten days every May, the city of Perth becomes the gem in Scotland’s cultural calendar. One of the oldest, continuously-running independent arts festivals in Scotland ... We feature international and national artists and orchestras from the worlds of classical music, opera, rock, jazz, Celtic, comedy, theatre, dance and the visual arts.'

'PSNS is one of the oldest Scientific Societies in Scotland. It has always been, and remains today, a "Society for All".  It consists of a "Parent Body" as its primary membership with currently four activity groups (or Sections): The Archaeological & Historical, Botanical, Ornithological and Photographic Sections all run active programmes of winter meetings and summer outings to allow members to focus on special interests.'
