'The Chichester Literary Society was formed in January 2005. Since its formation, the Society has gone from strength to strength. Throughout the year it offers a wide range of talks by speakers on many literary subjects.'

'Probably the oldest literary club in Wales ... The first dinner and lecture was held at the Westgate Hotel on the 23rd April 1947; we assume that the date was chosen to coincide with Shakespeare’s birthday. The dinners have continued since then and we now meet about six times a year for our dinner/lectures.'

Overview

'Founded in 1982, the Suffolk Book League promotes the pleasures of reading by bringing popular and distinguished writers to speak in Ipswich.'

Overview

'The core of the programme is a series of fortnightly evening meetings, which run from September to April each year, when talks are given by members on literary topics of general interest. Sometimes these concentrate on a single author or poet; at other times a particular theme may be selected. These talks usually lead to lively discussions and often introduce members to new books worth reading.'

Overview

'Non-profit making local society whose aim is to provide an annual programme of talks for members. We are neither a book-group nor a commercial literary festival: all our lectures are given by academics and published authors, and are always a great deal more substantial than simple author readings ... Before and after our talks we always enjoy a glass of wine together in the evenings, or tea and cakes in the afternoons.'
