'We cover South-West Surrey from Chobham, Woking, Guildford and Godalming through to Cranleigh and Haslemere and have about 500 members. We aim to interest and inform our members about the RSPB, and to raise funds for the Society. We hold indoor meetings with illustrated talks twice a month from September to April and we have an extensive programme of over 50 walks and outings with occasional residential visits to UK or foreign birding sites.'

'The Arts Society Guildford Wey Valley aims to be friendly and inclusive. Visitors are made very welcome ... The heart of our annual programme is ten illustrated lectures by well-qualified specialists. These are held on the 3rd Thursday morning of every month except July and August. Additionally, Study Days look at a subject more widely or deeply over 2 or 3 lectures separated by a convivial light lunch. Visits to places of interest or exhibitions are equally popular and a 3 night-4 day Tour is made each year.'

'Our meetings take place ... on the second Thursday of each month (with the exception of July and August). Doors open at 10:00am. Please do not arrive before then so that equipment may be set up. Coffee is served from 10:15am (50p) and seats should be taken in the hall by 10:40am. Lectures commence promptly at 10:45. We are a very friendly group and welcome visitors to attend 3 lectures per year on payment of £7 per lecture.'

'Watts Gallery is unique in being the only purpose-built art gallery to show a single professional artist’s collection. It is an early example of an Arts & Crafts building and one of the first to be built in solid concrete. It is listed Grade II* ... In his own lifetime George Frederic Watts (1817-1904), was widely considered to be the greatest painter of the Victorian age, enjoying an unparalleled reputation. His ceaseless experimentation embodied the most pressing themes and ideas of the time. A complex figure, Watts was the finest and most penetrating portraitist of his age, a sculptor, landscape painter and symbolist which earned him the title "England’s Michelangelo" ...'
