Monthly afternoon meetings. ALERT 'It was RESOLVED at the Annual General Meeting of the Society held on the 28th September 2019 that the Society should be wound up. Therefore, all further meetings of the Society have been cancelled.'

Overview

'Our meetings usually involve a talk with slides, many given by Members themselves (several of our Members lecture to other Societies around the country) but we also have outside speakers at some meetings ... Visitors and new Members are always welcome so why not take a look at our Programme page and join us one day?'

Online Lectures & Talks
Overview

'A series of lectures and social events are organised each year.'

Overview

'We share a joint programme of events with the Chiltern Heraldry Group, meeting either in Ruislip or in various Chiltern locations.' ALERT Sadly, the Society no longer meets, but its website is maintained for its archive of our journal, the Seaxe, and for its still expanding survey of the heraldry in the churches of the historic county and the Cities of London and Westminster.’

Overview

'All meetings - except the Churches Visit and the Exhibitions - held on a Wednesday ... starting at 7.45 pm.'

Overview

'This Society is nearly one and three-quarter centuries old, but like King Arthur it has been dormant. Now it is ready once again to help us all to delight in and to study the many colourful ways in which kings and yeomen, nations and colleges, regiments and churchmen, have chosen to symbolise themselves and their pretensions over the centuries. Come and join us for lectures - both learned and frivolous - for visits and excursions, and for whatever else you think a Heraldry Society should do. ... You do not need to be a member of the University, but if you are, please make this clear.'

Overview

‘Founded in January 2003. First and foremost its mission was to study and discuss the heraldry of Somerset, but it soon showed itself to be a group interested in considering the subject in all its varied aspects as well as forging links with other like-minded organisations ... The Society has up to half a dozen meetings a year ... These feature talks and presentations by both members and visiting speakers.’

Overview

'Our Society would welcome anyone who would like to know more about Heraldry. We have talks, run training courses, hold exhibitions and displays and visit places of heraldic interest. Each 23 April we have a formal St George’s Day dinner.'
