'Regular meetings of the BSMEE are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month ... at 7.15 pm. Meetings, which are open to the general public, usually comprise a talk or demonstration on a suitable subject followed by an opportunity to meet fellow members. New members are always welcome and no particular skill is necessary ... Not all members are active model makers, some members get considerable enjoyment simply from being a member and helping other members enjoy the fruits of their model making activities.'

'The society facilities are open to members as required. There is an informal club night each Friday and working groups meet on Wednesdays and Sundays. Other members use the tracks during the week especially in the summer running season. For various reasons, the running sessions are not open to the general public but we are delighted to see interested folk when we are running. We also have a program of talks and visits during the year which folk are welcome to join ...'

'We hold meetings in the winter months when it can be cold and dark outside, these are held in our Carriage Shed. All meetings start promptly at 20.00 hours.'

'The main society meeting takes place each Friday evening, commencing at 8 pm and lasting about two hours. During the winter months (October to March) a series of organised talks is arranged, but during the summer months these meetings are less formal and advantage is taken of the lighter summer evenings to carry out minor maintenance work about our site.'

‘The Society holds regular meetings each month, usually at the Society’s site in Cowes, Isle of Wight. The form of these meetings is usually to contain a feature or theme for the evening - a film or video show, a talk from an outside speaker on some relevant subject or a practical demonstration of model making. All of these promote lively discussion and well attended meetings.’

'Although the main interest within the membership is the building and running of railway locomotives, the Society provides for, and encourages, all aspects of the hobby. Informal meetings are held weekly on Wednesday evenings throughout the year in the Clubhouse, but during the winter months, normally on the first and third Wednesday, we enjoy a programme of talks and other formal activities usually in the pleasant surroundings of the Eggborough Sports & Leisure Complex.'
